  2. obsolete. An indie card game made in the USA, crowdfunded in eight days, sold from 2013 until 2025.

Deck Around is officially extinct

It cancelled itself before it could get cancelled.

Deck Around began as a scrappy indie game project. Over time, those bespoke costs exploded. Deck Around is proudly manufactured in the USA but the math on that stopped working. Instead of rebuilding the entire supply chain from scratch, limping along indefinitely or launching another sad Kickstarter sequel… I've sold the final games and called it a dignified finish.

The venture

How far it got

  • 2009

    Deck Around began as an informal game played among friends on slips of paper. Later, we did 60+ rounds of playtesting, plus several blind playtests via Board Game Geek.

  • Nov 2013

    Launched November 26. Fully funded on Indiegogo in 8 days — faster than Cards Against Humanity (whose goal Deck Around hit in only 11 days).

  • 2013–14

    Pitched in person to retail buying teams at Hasbro, Target, JCPenney and more.

  • 2015

    Received a purchase order from Spencer's Gifts — unfulfilled, due to supply chain and cash flow.

  • 2025

    Deck Around pretentiously became one of those "discontinued" items on your board game shelf.
